Foreign Ministry Has No Official Information about Turkey Travel Ban on Dogan and Peevski
Sofia, February 12 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has no official information about a Turkey travel ban on Ahmed Dogan, founder and Honorary Chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), and Delyan Peevski, an MP of the MRF and a business owner, Deputy Foreign Minister Valentin Poryazov told the National Assembly on Friday, reacting to Bulgarian and Turkish media reports. "There has been no announcement by an official Turkish institution about any such decision," Poryazov said.
He spoke in the National Assembly after the MRF asked Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov to appear before the lawmakers in connection with the alleged ban. The MRF parliamentary group insisted that the Minister should explain what actions have been taken by his department and either confirm or deny the reports that Dogan and Peevski have been banned from travelling to Turkey. MRF Co-Floor Leader Moustafa Karadayi noted that Bulgarian National Television has received confirmation of the reports from the Turkish Embassy in Bulgaria.
