Food Wholesale Market Index Up 2.80 Per Cent in Second Week of February

Sofia, February 15 (BTA) - The food wholesale market index increased by 2.80 per cent to 1.457 points in second first week of February, the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets reported. Since the start of the year the index climbed 5.1 per cent.

Tomatoes traded unchanged at 1.68 leva/kg. Cucumbers were trading at 2.57 leva/kg, up 26.00 per cent. Cabbages eased 0.05 per cent to 0.73 leva/kg, and potatoes were going at 0.60 leva/kg wholesale.

Apples appreciated 5.7 per cent to 1.12 leva/kg. Lemons lost 6.2 per cent to 2.24 leva/kg. Oranges went 2.0 per cent down to 0.96 leva/kg. Tangerines gained 4.6 per cent and were trading at 1.37 leva/kg.

Cows' cheese traded at an average selling price of 5.54 leva/kg, and Vitosha kashkaval yellow cheese was trading at 9.97 leva/kg. Cooking oil increased 0.5 per cent to 2.14 leva/litre. Minced meat was 0.6 per cent more expensive, reaching 4.70 leva/kg. Frozen poultry was selling at 3.77 leva/kg. Sugar gained 0.7 per cent to an average 1.40 leva/kg. Type 500 flour was trading at 0.85 leva/kg. White beans sold at 2.90 leva/kg. Rice rose 2.6 per cent to an average 2.01 leva/kg. Eggs were trading at 0.19 leva apiece wholesale.
