Regional Development Minister Attends UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development
in Ecuador

Quito/Sofia, October 18 (BTA) - Bulgarian Regional Development and Public Works Minister Lilyana Pavlova gave a speech at the United Nations Third Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) taking place in Ecuador, in October 17 - 20, Pavlova's Ministry said in a press release Tuesday.

Pavlova said that the challenges of the present day emphasize the need for a collective vision for urban development to direct all efforts towards attaining the goals of sustainable development.

Pavlova said that safeguarding the human rights of children is among the key priorities of the Bulgarian government which pays special attention to the housing policy, jobs, and skills in the local economy, climate change, urban mobility, improving the security and border control.

Pavlova also stressed the link between the Quito Declaration and the EU's Urban Agenda which in her words is a guarantee for attaining synergy and also proof that mankind will head in the right direction, striking a balance between economic growth and quality of life, between economic prosperity and social welfare.
