Technical Solutions to Be Sought for Achieving Compatibility between TETRA Networks of Defence, Interior Ministry

Sofia, October 18 (BTA) - Technical solutions will be sought for achieving compatibility between the TETRA networks of the ministries of defence and of the interior while ensuring their autonomy, Deputy Defence Minister Orhan Ismailov said here Tuesday. He was speaking at the opening of a renovated centre for monitoring and management of the automatic network for communication with moving objects using the TETRA standard.

The centre is located in a building of the Defence Ministry in Sofia.

The project for upgrading and developing the TETRA system of the Bulgarian armed forces will streamline the work and improve the efficiency when performing tasks for the Armed Forces.

The system is of critical importance for military units carrying out joint tasks with the Border Police for protection of the land and sea border, Ismailov said.

The upgraded system also improves the military command, the communication capabilities of the Bulgarian Armed Forces and the interoperability with NATO partners.

Chief of Defence Gen. Konstantin Popov said that the Bulgarian Armed Forces are in a situation where they are called on to react as quickly and effectively as possible while they are still in the process of being developed.

The opening of the upgraded facility included a demonstration of how a ship liaises with a helicopter.
