EC President Juncker Congratulates Borissov on His Appointment as Prime Minister

Brussels, May 5 (BTA correspondent Nikolay Jeliazkov) - European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European People's Party (EPP), Joesph Daul, and Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic congratulated Boyko Borissov on his appointment as Prime Minister.

"Please accept my warm congratulations on your appointment as Prime Minister of Bulgaria. Your Government takes office at a very momentous time for Bulgaria and the European Union," Juncker wrote in his letter to Borissov. "I sincerely hope that we can continue to work together in addressing the challenges of the European Union on the basis of our common institutions and strong values making it a community of peace, freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, a major economic power with unparalleled levels of social protection and welfare.

"I look forward to working with you to deliver these goals, focusing on what citizens expect from us. Strengthening the protection of our common borders, a successful and more solidarious management of our common migration and asylum policies, the completion of our digital single market and increasing the resilience of our Energy Union are important tasks that will require our joint determination and our committed work during the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. We count on you and your leadership," Juncker wrote.

"I wish you every success for your Government and on a personal level I am delighted that we can continue our close partnership. I look forward to seeing you very soon," the EC President said in conclusion.

"I am convinced that Bulgaria and its people will continue to thrive under Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's leadership," reads a tweet by EPP President Joseph Daul. Congratulations to my friend and winner of the last Bulgarian parliamentary elections, Boyko Borissov, on being re-elected as the new prime minister," Daul added.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic also congratulated Borissov on his election as Prime Minister, Cabinet's Press Service said. Vucic, who is also Serbia's president-elect and is to assume office at the end of May, says that his country will remain a true partner of Bulgaria, while he will continue appreciating the values, goodneighbourliness and cooperation, which are not beneficial to the two countries alone, but to the region as a whole.
