Boxer Stanimira Petrova and swimmer Petar Mitsin will be the flag bearers of the Bulgarian delegation at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, the Bulgarian Olympic Committee announced on Wednesday.

The ceremony is scheduled for July 26, and the competitions will continue until August 11.

Bulgaria has won 41 quotas so far, two of them for Mitsin and Petrova. The swimmer, who just a week ago was part of the Bulgarian relay that improved the national record in the 4 by 100 freestyle, will take part in the 400 and 800 metres in the same discipline. 

Bulgaria will have four swimmers at the Olympics.

Two-time European champion Stanimira Petrova will take part in the women's 54 kg boxing tournament. Bulgaria will be represented by five boxers at the Olympic Games in Paris.

The Bulgarian group will consist of 115 athletes, coaches, medical staff and officials. The head of the team will be BOC President Stefka Kostadinova.

Bulgaria will be represented in 16 sports in Paris, with the largest number of athletes in rhythmic gymnastics - ensemble and individual with 7 competitors, followed by athletics, boxing and wrestling - 5 each, swimming - 4, badminton and weightlifting - 3 each, rowing, judo, gymnastics and shooting - 2 each, and canoe-kayak, modern pentathlon, tennis, fencing and taekwondo - 1 each.
