Hiking in the high parts of the mountains is not advisable on Thursday due to stormy winds, rain and thick fog, said the Bulgarian Red Cross Mountain Rescue Service advised.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology expects heavy clouds and rain showers. The rain will turn to snow in the highest parts of Mt Rila and Mt Pirin in the southwest, where isolated thunderstorms are possible. Strong to stormy southwesterly wind with highs of 11C at 1,200 m and 4C at 2,000 m were forecast.
