Bulgarian Achieves Highest Score in ACCA International Accounting Exam

Maria Marinova from Varna received the global award of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for achieving the highest score in the Advanced Taxation exam, the organization said. "I am honored to receive the ACCA global award. I hope that my achievement will motivate others to strive for success in education or work," said Marinova, quoted in the announcement.

A total of 113,910 students took part in the December exam session, with a total of 130,898 exams completed. Students must pass 13 exams to become members of ACCA. The average success rate for these difficult exams is around 50% for each session, and 13 students achieved the highest score for each exam.

Andreia Stanciu, Head of ACCA Southern Europe, expressed pride to have a Bulgarian professional among the best in the global accounting profession. This is a testament to the quality of education in Bulgaria, as well as the diligence and motivation of the financial professionals here, she explained, noting that ACCA is represented in Bulgaria through hundreds of members and students, through the relationships with the organisation’s  partners, employers, universities and ultimately through the cooperation have with IDES (Institute of Chartered Accountants in Bulgaria) and CPOSA (Commission for Public Oversight of Statutory Auditors), who have agreed to offer ACCA members easy access to the auditing profession.
