Agriculture Minister Georgi Tahov took part in a meeting of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) Committee for Agriculture, where the successful completion of Bulgaria's agricultural policy review was announced, , the Agriculture Ministry said in a press release on Thursday. This marked the final point of another key phase of Bulgaria's accession process to the organisation and brings the country closer to full membership in the OECD.
During the meeting Tahov stressed that Bulgaria is committed to the sustainable development of agriculture, the modernisation of the sector and the implementation of policies based on data and good international practices. In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the OECD Secretariat and to the Member States for the professional support and constructive dialogue throughout the process.
The OECD brings together 38 advanced economies that share common principles of good governance, transparency, sustainable development and economic stability.
Bulgaria's accession is a foreign policy and strategic priority, and the successful completion of the reviews in the various committees - including the one on agriculture - are important steps towards finalising the negotiation process, the press release reads.
