In a condolence letter to the family and loved ones of the legendary Bulgarian journalist Daniela Kaneva, President Rumen Radev stated that through her powerful reports and films, Kaneva transcended the mission of journalism by building spiritual bridges between Bulgaria and the nations and peoples featured in her stories.

Daniela Kaneva passed away at the age of 87, as confirmed for BTA earlier Wednesday by her niece, Lidiya Kaneva, to the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).

He emphasized that in doing so, Kaneva became a worthy ambassador of Bulgaria, internationally recognized and someone the Bulgarian public can rightly be proud of.

President Radev also highlighted that Kaneva left an indelible mark on Bulgarian journalism with her numerous reports and films from diverse and distant parts of the world. "Her television narratives not only attracted audiences but educated and inspired them. Her intelligence, hard work, and free-spirited nature represent the core of the journalistic profession and stand as a model of high-quality public broadcasting," he said.
