“We understand the decision of Save Sofia, but we assess it as a grave political mistake,” the group of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria on the Sofia Municipal Council told journalists.
From now on the most important thing for us is to continue working for Sofia, said municipal councilor Boyko Dimitrov. He added that the focus of their group is the city budget for 2025. Dimitrov said they will work together with the mayor's team on finding reserves for more investment in culture, green spaces and systems. The councillor said they will continue to communicate with all political groups so the city can continue to grow.
“We respect the decision of Save Sofia, but we think it is an escape from responsibility”, said Dimitar Shalafov. He expressed hope that the requests made by Save Sofia will happen. According to Shalafov, there is a lack of unity about the direction in which the city is developing. He added that the split of political entities can only complicate the process of Sofia's development.
At the beginning of the week, Save Sofia announced that they were leaving the coalition between Continue the Change, Democratic Bulgaria and Save Sofia on the Sofia Municipal Council and withdrawing their support for Mayor Vasil Terziev.
