Parliament Speaker Natalia Kiselova extended her condolences to the family of renowned journalist Daniela Kaneva, remembering her as "one of the most distinguished figures in Bulgarian National Television", said the parliamentary press office.

Daniela Kaneva passed away at the age of 87, as confirmed for BTA earlier Wednesday by her niece, Lidiya Kaneva, to the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).

"Known for her deep knowledge of Japanese and Indian culture, Kaneva began her career at BTA and became the first foreign journalist accredited in Japan," said the Parliament leader. She praised her insightful interviews with world leaders and her role in strengthening Bulgarian-Japanese diplomatic ties.

Her funeral will be held on April 27 at the Church of the Seven Saints in Sofia.
