One of our main priorities is restoring trust in Bulgaria as a reliable economic partner and an attractive destination for investment and business, Economy and Industry Minister Peter Dilov said on Tuesday, quoted by the ministry’s press service.

Dilov said this during a meeting with Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce (BSCC) Chair Boni Bonev and BSCC Secretary Vasil Radoynovski, Secretary of the Chamber.

Speaking before Swiss business representatives in Bulgaria, Dilov emphasized the importance of cooperation with bilateral trade chambers.

During the meeting, it was noted that, according to Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) data, Swiss direct investments in Bulgaria amount to nearly EUR 4 billion. Swiss investors operate in fast-growing sectors, including energy, food processing, cement production, electronics, and industrial battery manufacturing.

Dilov and the Chamber representatives discussed opportunities to deepen ties with Swiss companies in the fields of innovation and dual education.

BSCC representatives highlighted that Swiss investors are interested in establishing R&D centres in Bulgaria, where there are already successful examples in this regard.

Both sides agreed to actively promote Bulgaria as an investment destination among Swiss companies.

Dilov noted that bilateral trade relations have followed a positive trend in recent years, but there is still potential to strengthen cooperation and launch joint projects.

Trade figures show that in 2023, trade turnover with Switzerland reached nearly EUR 700 million. In the first ten months of 2024 alone, it had already surpassed this amount, reaching EUR 750 million.

BSCC brings together 130 companies, including multinational industry leaders and SMEs from various sectors.
