A meeting between representatives of the Moldova branch of Ruse University in Taraclia and parents of high school graduates was held at the Theoretical Lyceum here on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Alexandr Borimecicov, Administrative Director of the Grigoriy Tsamblak branch, pointed out that Bulgaria allocates a total of 150 places for students in bachelor and master programmes, as well as five places for doctoral studies for candidates of Bulgarian and Gagauz origin. “The application platform will be opened on April 21 to June 1, but we urge those interested to start preparing the necessary documents now,” he stressed.

The branch offers training in seven majors, including Preschool and Primary Education, Bulgarian Language and History, Bulgarian Language and Foreign Language, Business Management and Agricultural and Motor Transport Equipment. “The introduction of the new programmes is the result of a thorough study of the needs in the region, carried out by the Ruse University”, noted Senior Assistant Professor Dr. Hristina Sokolova.

She added that graduates of the Taraclia branch will receive a European diploma recognized throughout the European Union and that students have the opportunity for mobility under the Erasmus+ programme.

Senior Assistant Professor Dr. Mariana Ilieva said that classes will take place in person on site in Bulgarian, Romanian and English. The teachers for the new programmes will arrive from Ruse, and all students in need will undergo an intensive Bulgarian language training at the beginning of the first semester.

Ilieva emphasized that there is also an opportunity for training for citizens of Moldova other than those of the Gagauz and Bulgarian ethnic groups. 20 places are provided for them, subsidized by the Moldovan government, but with limitations in the specialties they can choose.

At the end of the meeting, most attendees expressed satisfaction with the opportunity for university studies in their hometown, completely free of charge and with a European diploma.

From April 8 to 11, a six-member delegation from the university is holding meetings with high school students and their parents in Taraclia District, Gagauzia, Chisinau, the village of Parkani in Transnistria, and others to inform about the admission requirements, tuition programmes, and financial support schemes. The campaign aims to present new opportunities for higher education in the region, as the education is free and a monthly scholarship of BGN 240 is guaranteed for students in bachelor's and master's degrees.
