The St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library and the National Library of Nigeria have signed a new memorandum of understanding, in which they reconfirm their commitment to the strengthening of bilateral ties in culture and librarianship. The ceremony was held online with the participation of the two institutions' directors and their teams, the Bulgarian Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
The diplomatic mission noted that the cooperation between the two libraries dates back to 2021, when a literary corner dedicated to Nigeria was opened at the National Library of Bulgaria. In 2023, the first two-year Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in Sofia and in 2024, a corner dedicated to Bulgarian culture and literature was opened at the National Library of Nigeria in Abuja.
“The heads of the two libraries stressed that with the signing of the new memorandum of cooperation, they continue to build cultural bridges between our countries by promoting the exchange of professionals, experience and expertise in the field of librarianship,” the Bulgarian Embassy in Abuja further said.
