Vazrazhdane is demanding that the new Transport Minister conduct a full review of the Ministry of Transport and Communications in relation to the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) in the wake of the recent tragic train crashes , said Vazrazhdane MP Petar Petrov Friday.

He pointed out that as early as last week at a presidential council they had asked why the caretaker transport minister was not appearing on a hearing they had requested regarding these two serious crashes. "On the same afternoon, we again had a serious accident - the crash of the two trains near the village of Lokorsko, again there were two deaths", Petrov said. "I immediately spoke to the new Minister of Transport Grozdan Karadzhov, asked for a meeting with him, which we will go to next week and also yesterday immediately after the swearing-in I submitted a question to him again - what is happening in the BDZ system", he added, stressing that Vazrazhdane will look for answers about these frequent tragedies in BDZ.

Petrov added that next week his party will ask the minister to explicitly revise the management of the caretaker minister regarding the management of BDZ - what has been done and what has not. Petrov alluded to referring to the prosecution service. "Tens of thousands of people use rail transport every day, the most important thing is that they have security", Petrov said, stating that passenger and freight transport on BDZ is part of national security.
