Ten international companies participated in the tender announced by Bulgargaz PLC for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in October 2024 at the LNG Terminal in Alexandroupolis, Greece. TotalEnergies Gas and Power Ltd. was ranked first among the participants, Bulgargaz said in a press release Wednesday.

On August 29, 2024, Bulgargaz announced tender procedures for the supply of 5 cargoes (5,000,000 MWh) of LNG within its booked capacity at the Alexandroupolis Terminal. Their delivery is foreseen in accordance with the time slots agreed between the Gastrade terminal operator and Bulgargaz. These provide for delivery of one cargo per month, in the from October 2024 to February 2025.

Bulgargaz expects increased interest in the remaining two tenders - for the months of November and December 2024, and for January and February 2025, the press release reads.

With the inclusion of the LNG from Alexandroupolis in the energy mix, Bulgargaz fully guarantees the security of gas supply for the upcoming winter season for Bulgarian consumers and businesses, in light of the potential suspension of Russian natural gas transportation through Ukrainian territory from the beginning of 2025.
