Addressing the nation on New Year's Eve, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said: "It is time for us together to seek a path beyond political weakness, corruption and insecurity. It is time for us to set high goals together. Every day, thousands of our fellow citizens - scientists, engineers, artists and cultural figures, Olympic medallists - with stamina, will and hard work, write new pages in the history of our fatherland and give us confidence that we can do much more," said Radev.

According to the President, the world is seeing out a year full of risks. Wars are intensifying, democracy is going through a difficult period, and new challenges are looming on the horizon. Peace, stability, freedom and fair elections, which seemed guaranteed in Europe until recently, are now in question. Parliamentary elections in Bulgaria did not open up a strategic perspective for resolving the chronic political crisis, said Radev.

"Crises teach us that the future requires our collective efforts, a proactive position of each of us in every life and political choice," the President noted. Without the citizens' participation and control, the State weakens and cannot guarantee them basic needs; public and even personal relations are exacerbated; Bulgaria's huge potential as a nation remains untapped, and its future falls hostage to oligarchic and clique interests, said Radev.

The President expressed his deep gratitude to the worthy Bulgarians from all corners, religions and professions who fulfil their creative dreams through honest work and skill, driving the country forward. He also thanked all parents who raise and educate the children of Bulgaria.

"As we fill our glasses, let us not forget those who, on this festive night, are at their workplaces to guarantee our lives, health and security: healthcare professionals, police officers, military personnel and emergency teams," the President said.

The year 2025 will pose new challenges, the President said. "I am confident that we will find the wisdom and strength to overcome them. We will realize that in an era of global upheavals, unity is the path to preserving the fatherland. I believe that we have the talent and the will to establish Bulgaria as a strong, sovereign and prosperous country on the map of Europe," said Radev.

"I wish you peace, health and faith in goodness! May all worthy endeavours be blessed, and may the New Year bring joy and light to everyone! Let us see it in with pure thoughts, and see it out with our heads held high as people and as Bulgarians," the President concluded.
