In 2024, top Bulgarian science students won 91 medals - 11 gold, 40 silver and 40 bronze - in competition with the best students in the world, the Association of Olympic Teams in Natural Sciences said on Thursday.
"It is important to point out that only from the most prestigious tournaments of the year, namely the International Olympiads in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Informatics, Biology, Linguistics, Astrophysics and Astronomy, and from this year - Artificial Intelligence, Bulgarian students won 40 medals - 2 gold, 14 silver and 24 bronze awards," the team noted.
Among the awards this year are two sets of team silver medals from the European Experimental Science Olympiad, three medals from the European Girls Mathematics Olympiad, three medals from the International Mendeleev Olympiad in Chemistry, eight medals from the Balkan Mathematics Olympiad, six medals from the Balkan Youth Mathematics Olympiad, three medals at the International Biology Olympiad, five medals at the International Mathematics Olympiad, three medals at the European Girls' Informatics Olympiad, four medals at the European Physics Olympiad, five medals at the International Physics Olympiad, four medals and second place in the world for Victor Lilov at the International Chemistry Olympiad.
In addition, Bulgarian students won six medals from the International Linguistics Olympiad, two sets of team bronze medals from the First International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, four medals from the European Youth Olympiad in Informatics, five medals from the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad, four medals from the International Informatics Olympiad, four medals from the Balkan Informatics Olympiad, five medals from the International Youth Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics.
