Conferring with Chinese Ambassador Dong Xiaojun, Bulgarian Tourism Minister Zaritza Dinkova said that her ministry will work to expand Bulgarian-Chinese initiatives boosting tourism exchanges and investment, the Tourism Ministry said in a press release on Friday.

According to Dinkova's statement, in recent years, there has been a serious development in the traditionally good bilateral relations. There has been a recent meeting with a delegation from China's Jiangxi province that was very constructive. The details on what was agreed during these talks are being further discussed. The ministry’s main objective is to attract more Chinese tourists to Bulgaria by developing special offers, including combined tourist packages, such as visits to the Rose Festival and the Yoghurt Festival.

"The creation of joint tourism services for distant markets, including China, is our long-term priority and we will work more and more actively in this direction," Dinkova said.

Dong Xiaojun congratulated the Bulgarian Tourism Minister for her efforts to promote bilateral tourism relations. He expressed his impressions of Bulgaria's beauty, and of its cultural and historical landmarks. The Chinese Ambassador pointed out that Chinese tourists are very interested in Bulgarian culture and cuisine.

It transpired at the meeting that Bulgaria will be promoted as a tourist destination on the national Chinese TV channel through the Beauty in Common initiative.
