Molded sheep's cheese, which is produced in only three places in Europe, will be presented at the 17th National Livestock Exhibition on October 6 and 7 near Sliven, said the organizers from the Executive Agency for Selection and Reproduction in Animal Breeding (EASRAB).

The exhibition, mottoed "Meetings of the elite", will once again gather over 500 first-class animals in Sliven, on the exhibition grounds next to the junction for the village of Mechkarevo.

The so-called green cheese from the village of Cherni Vit, apart from Bulgaria, is produced in only two other places in Europe, France and Switzerland. What makes the cheese from the village of Cherni Vit unique is the noble mold, which in this country develops naturally, while in France and Switzerland it is done by artificial contamination.

The cheese is made in small wooden barrels, and the quality of the milk, which in the village area is mixed, obtained from the Teteven and Karakachan breeds of sheep, is extremely important. The climate also affects the development of the noble mold - without the humidity and mild climate, which are characteristic of the Cherni Vit river, the mold cheese would not be produced.

Elite Bulgarian examples of cattle breeding, sheep breeding, goat breeding, horse breeding and buffalo breeding can be seen at the event.
On the first day of the exhibition (October 6) the Bulgarian Shepherd dog breed will be presented.

The official opening will be on October 7 (Saturday) by Agriculture Minister Kiril Vatev and EASRAB  Executive Director Georgi Yordanov.
