January 13: The southern half of Bulgaria will see more snow, with abundant amounts expected to fall in the mountains (the Rila-Rhodope area, Mt Strandzha and Mt Sakar). The Fore-Balkan will have light snow, and the Danubian Plain will get none. Wind northeasterly, light to moderate (the east will temporarily have strong wind), continuing to bring in cold air. The atmospheric pressure will rise further, reaching considerably higher levels than the month's average. Lows: minus 4 C to plus 1 C in most parts of the country, minus 4 C in Sofia. Highs: minus 1 C to plus 4 C, in Sofia minus 1 C.
The coast: Cloudy, with rain and snow showers mainly along the southern stretch of the coastline. Wind northeasterly, moderate, temporarily strong. Highs: 4 C to 6 C. Sea water temperatures: 8 C to 10 C. Sea waves: 2 to 3 degrees Douglas, and getting higher.
The mountains: Cloudy and foggy. Snow in many highland areas, with abundant amounts expected to fall in the Rila-Rhodope area, Mt Strandzha and Mt Sakar. Strong wind from the northeast; at mountaintops it will blow from the east-southeast. Snowstorms and snow drifts are expected in mountain passes. Highs: minus 4 C at 1,200 metres above sea level, minus 6 C at 2,000 metres.
