More than sixty experts, scientists and space agency representatives from around fifteen countries will participate in the second international high-level hybrid conference "Machine Learning and Computer Vision in Heliophysics 2025" (MCH25), dedicated to machine learning and computer vision in solar physics and space exploration. It opens on Monday at the Grand Hotel Millennium Sofia, the Institute of Astronomy with the National Astronomical Observatory of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences said.

Among the participants are leading representatives of universities and scientific centres from Poland, Germany, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, USA, and Bulgaria. A representative of the European Space Operations Centre of the European Space Agency (ESA) will also take part in the conference.

The world-class interdisciplinary conference, one of its kind in Europe, focuses on demonstrating the development of state-of-the-art techniques and applications of the latest advances in computer vision and machine learning to heliophysics research and space weather prediction systems, as well as the integration of these techniques into observations, modelling, and operational activities. The main topics of the conference include applications of computer vision and machine learning in heliophysics, techniques and software tools for computer vision and machine learning, interpretable machine learning, and physics-informed networks.

The conference is organized as part of the MOSAIICS project and the VIHREN National Scientific Programme of the Bulgarian National Science Fund.
