In January 2025, seasonally adjusted services production in Bulgaria increased by 3% month-on-month, following an increase of 1.5% in December 2024, show Eurostat data published on Monday. Year-on-year, services production increased by 7.6% compared to January 2024, following a 0.7% rise in December 2024 compared to same month in the previous year.
On average, services production increased by 0.4% in the euro area, and by 0.3% in the EU, compared with December 2024. Compared with January 2024, services production increased by 2.9% in the euro area and by 3.3% in the EU.
Month-to-month, services production in the EU decreased by 0.5% in transportation and storage, and by 0.1% in administrative and support services. However, it increased by 0.1% in accommodation and food services, 1.1% in information and communication services, and 1.8% in real estate activities. Professional, scientific, and technical activities remained stable.
In the euro area, services production increased in several sectors: transportation and storage by 0.4%, accommodation and food services by 0.1%, information and communication by 0.5%, and real estate activities by 1.7%. However, it decreased in professional, scientific, and technical activities by 0.4%, and in administrative and support services by 0.2%.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest monthly increases were recorded in Austria (+3.1%), Belgium, Bulgaria and Latvia (all three +3.0%). The largest decreases were observed in Denmark (-8.4%), Slovakia (-4.3%) and Slovenia (-2.6%).
For annual growth, in the EU, services production increased by 5.7% for transportation and storage, 1.2% for accommodation and food services, 5.4% for information and communication, 1.9% for real estate activities, 1.9% for professional, scientific, and technical activities, and 1.1% for administrative and support services.
In the euro area, in January 2025, compared to January 2024, services production increased by 4.5% in transportation and storage, 0.9% in accommodation and food services, 4.8% in information and communication services, 2.2% in real estate activities, 1.7% in professional, scientific, and technical activities, and 0.8% in administrative and support services.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest annual increases were recorded in Denmark (+16.0%), Estonia (+10.5%) and Greece (+10.1%). The only decrease was observed in Slovenia (-1.7%).
Year-on-year, services production in Bulgaria grew by 7.6% in January 2025, compared to January 2024, after a 0.7% increase in December 2024 compared to December 2023.
