Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov attended a ceremony for the Worthy Bulgarians annual awards here on Monday. Speaking at the 22nd edition of the 24 Chasa daily's national campaign, Zhelyazkov said that being worthy means being respected by others.
The Prime Minister went on to say that seeking good is like Diogenes who walks with his lantern looking for an honest man. "Today, that beacon is very strong because it illuminates many people who, as announced, do not know each other, but they are actually one person - the person in whom there is good, empathy, compassion. This is the person we seem to miss in everyday life, but when we meet them, we have no choice but to say 'thank you' for existing," Zhelyazkov added.
Zhelyazkov presented Worthy Bulgarians special badges and diplomas to Krassimir Todorov, Viktor Georgiev, and Dr. Dimitar Bakalov.
Todorov is a teacher from Veliko Tarnovo (North Central Bulgaria), creator of a free literacy website with thousands of followers.
Georgiev has been developing an initiative for six years to help thousands of young drivers drive sensibly for free.
Dr. Bakalov, who works in the emergency room of the hospital in Pazardzhik (South Central Bulgaria), has made it his mission to explain to students the harm of vapes, drugs, alcohol, and laughing gas.
