Bulgarian artist Lilyana Dvoryanova won the Grand Prize at the third edition of the international virtual biennale "Intuitive Bulgaria 2025" for her painting Ednovremie, organizers said here on Monday.

Second and third places went to Fernanda Azevedo (Portugal) and Aimo Katajainen (Finland). This year’s edition featured nearly 450 works by 158 artists from 39 countries. A curated selection of 92 pieces is available online until April 23.

Classical naive art has significantly expanded in recent years, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in broader themes, more professional production, and a wide range of stylistic approaches.

The Biennale, which explores the expanding field of intuitive art, was juried by an international panel chaired by Adelina Fileva, Director of Sofia City Art Gallery, and included experts from Italy, France, Canada, Slovenia, Russia, and Bulgaria.

Daniela Osikovska, who is the curator of the only museum exhibition in Bulgaria dedicated to naive and intuitive art explained that ‘Intuitive’ has become a global platform that unites diverse forms of unmediated artistic expression.

Born in Sofia in 1978, Dvoryanova works across photography, digital art, painting, and illustration. She holds degrees in Philosophy and Graphic Design, a PhD in Visual Arts, and has exhibited in Bulgaria, the USA, and internationally.
