Vehicle access to Sofia Airport's Terminal 2 has been restored after the taxi drivers' protest on Friday, Sofia Airport authorities reported.

Earlier on Friday, taxi drivers had blocked the approaches to Terminal 2 in protest against the airport’s new access rules.

The taxi industry expressed its dissatisfaction with the new Terminal 2 traffic regulations, which came into effect on January 9. These rules limit unpaid entry for vehicles, including taxis, to 10 minutes in the so-called kiss-and-ride area. Vehicles can only spend 10 minutes free of charge in the kiss-and-ride area within an hour and if they enter more than once, they have to pay. It is against this rule in particular that taxi drivers were protesting.
