site.bta170 Arrested in Police Operation Targeting Drinking Establishments, Drug Dens across Bulgaria

A large-scale police operation to detect and counter drug-related crimes ordered by the Interior Ministry's Secretary General took place across the country between January 8 and 12, the Interior Ministry press service reported on Tuesday. During the operation, about 3,000 entertainment establishments and about 1,150 drug dens and places frequented by the active criminal contingent were checked, which resulted in 170 arrests.

The operation seized nearly 9 kg of marijuana, about 300 g of cocaine, 50 g of heroin, over 3 kg of designer drugs, vapes and gummy candies containing hexahydrocannabinol. Several closed-type drug greenhouses were discovered in Sofia, Varna and Burgas.

The number of unaccompanied persons under 18 found in night establishments was 238.
