site.btaThree MPs Waive Immunity upon Prosecutor General's Request of Late 2024
National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova Wednesday said three MPs had waived their immunity, acting upon the Prosecutor General's request of December 2024.
On December 20, Radostin Vasilev of MECh, Angel Georgiev of Vazrazhdane and Gyunay Daloolu of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning informed Kiselova in letters that they agreed to have criminal proceedings launched or continued against them.
On December 19, acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov asked Parliament to strip of immunity six MPs. Criminal proceedings are to be continued against Radostin Vasilev, Angel Georgiev and Veselin Veshev of Vazrazhdane, and to be launched against Mario Rangelov from Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - MRF, Lena Borislavova of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria and Gyunay Daloolu.
Kiselova also read out a list of the bodies whose mandate had expired, with vacancies that must be filled by Parliament, including the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, the Commission for Protection of Competition, the National Special Intelligence Devices Control Bureau, members of the Supreme Judicial Council in line with revisions of the Constitution and a Constitutional Court decision, the Commission for Anti-Corruption and Illegal Assets Forfeiture, and a Constitutional Court judge.
Kiselova also read out a list of officials due for election by Parliament: an Ombudsman, a Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank heading the Banking Supervision Department, and a Governor of the National Health Insurance Fund.
