In a video post on Facebook, on the occasion of the 116th anniversary of Bulgaria declaring its independence from the Ottoman empire, Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said that history remembers heroes, not traitors.

The video was shot in front of the Oborishte Assembly monument in the Oborishte area near Panagyurishte, Southern Bulgaria. Kostadinov went on to explain that at this spot revolutionaries decided to go forward with the April Uprising in 1876, which ultimately led to Bulgaria's freedom and independence. He noted that the monument holds all of those national heroes' names, but one has been crossed out - the name of the traitor who betrayed them and forced them to rebel early and cost the lives of up to 30,000 Bulgarians.
