site.btaAir Quality Station Deployed to Elin Pelin Indicates Normal Levels Amid Peak Emissions

Sofia Municipality deployed an air quality measuring station to Elin Pelin, Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev said at the beginning of today's meeting of the Sofia Municipal Council. He added that the air quality station is state-of-the-art and best in the country.

The fire risk near Sofia has raised concerns about potential air quality degradation. However, measurements indicate that pollution levels, even at their peak, remained within normal limits and are currently under control, Terziev said.

"Six teams were dispatched for surveillance, including one equipped with a drone featuring a thermal imaging camera to guide the effort, supplemented by ground teams. Eleven water tankers arrived on scene to aid in extinguishing the fire. Our teams worked tirelessly throughout the night, evacuating residents and providing food and water," Terziev said.
