site.btaEnergy Committee in Parliament to Consider Proposals to Freeze Negotiations with Ukraine on Sale of Equipment for Belene NPP

The Energy Committee in the 50th National Assembly will consider proposals to freeze negotiations with Ukraine on the sale of equipment for the Belene NPP project. 

The proposals come from the BSP for Bulgaria and the Vazrazhdane group and are prompted by the increasing problems with the steam generator at Kozloduy NPP Unit 6.

The draft provides for a complete freeze of the negotiations until it is understood whether the equipment is compatible with that at Kozloduy. 

Vazrazhdane's project envisages freezing only the part involving the steam generators, not a complete interruption of the process.

Delyan Dobrev of GERB-UDF, chairman of the Energy Committee, has committed to including the proposals for debate at the end of July.
