Two MPs from the Vazrazhdane party, Iskra Mihaylova and Daniel Prodanov, submitted to the National Assembly a bill to amend the Election Code. Speaking at a BTA-hosted press conference in Stara Zagora, they said that their revisions primarily target the operations of the Constituency Election Commissions (CECs).

Mihaylova said that the changes should provide for the possibility of "segregating at least three distinct areas within the CECs for receiving protocols, offering information services, and vote recounts, as currently vote recount happens throughout all REC areas". She believes CCTV should be put in place in each of these areas, allowing real-time broadcasting of the count at the individual district election committees (DECs).

Mihaylova added that RECs members involved in the recount must sign with DECs members, requiring two CECs members from different parties. The number of party representatives and agents permitted within REC premises during the handover of election protocols and papers will be increased, she continued.

Vazrazhdane points out that two changes should be made urgently in terms of DECs. "All participants in DECs, both as members and leaders, must possess at least a secondary education, rather than primary education as currently required," Mihaylova said. The amendment also envisages a 50% pay increase for DEC leadership roles compared to commission members.
