Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Anguelieva, who took part in an international conference entitled Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza in Amman on Tuesday, emphasized Bulgaria's steady commitment to support international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday. She focused on the key stabilizing role of Jordan and Egypt in the Middle East and their efforts to meet the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian population in the enclave - efforts that Bulgaria supports through cooperation and the provision of humanitarian assistance through the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization and the Egyptian Red Crescent.

Another member of the Bulgarian delegation was the Bulgarian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Amman, Metin Kazak

Anguelieva said that given the virtual collapse of the health system in Gaza and the need to meet the acute healthcare needs of the people of Gaza, Bulgaria is ready to provide additional support through the World Health Organization.

The forum, organized by the King of Jordan, Abdullah II, the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, saw participation by the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, heads of state and government, ministers, representatives of organizations such as the League of Arab States, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, among others. The event aimed to unite efforts for joint action and humanitarian response to the conflict in Gaza, to improve coordination and address challenges to ensure the delivery of urgent, sustainable and sufficient humanitarian assistance to the civilian people.
