Caretaker Minister of Education and Science Galin Tsokov Tuesday unveiled a new hall of the University Centre for Innovative Educational Technologies at the Faculty of Pedagogy of the Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv. According to him, the Centre allows for a change in the preparation of students, future teachers and lecturers alike.
The new hall is equipped with interactive presentation systems for training in innovative educational technologies. The funds for its creation were provided by the Ministry of Education and Science through the National Programme for improving the competences of lecturers at state higher education institutions preparing future teachers, in which Plovdiv University also participates. Under this programme, a number of qualification courses have been held on the topics of "Applying the Competence Approach to Student Learning" and "Using Digital Educational Technologies in Higher Education". So far, 221 academic teachers have been trained, and many of them have updated their curricula in view of these innovations.
The University Centre for Innovative Educational Technologies is committed to resourcing the process of updating the academic teaching style at Plovdiv University. It is active in two areas: improving the established system for remote observation of lessons in a real environment and expanding the electronic platform ab-ucha.bg, through which lecturers share digital educational resources with teachers from Bulgarian Sunday schools abroad.
