site.bta Helicopter Emergency Medical Services Team Carries Out First Mission

A Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) team carried out its first mission on Tuesday the press centre of the Ministry of Health said.

The medical team, including Dr. Vera Ivanova and nurse Georgi Radoev, was sent out in response a request for emergency assistance by air, received at 7:30 am.

The helicopter took off at 8:02 am, and at 8:45 am it stopped for refueling in Gorna Oryahovitsa, from where it took off again at 9:17 am. At 9:42 am the helicopter landed at the Shumen Hospital for Active Treatment to transport the patient to Sofia.

The first mission on Tuesday was hospital to hospital. The patient, who is in a serious condition, was transported from Shumen to the hospital heliport of the St. Ekaterina University Hospital in Sofia. From there,  a resuscitation team transported them to the Military Medical Academy.
