Petar Moskov, leader of the Conservative Alliance of the Right, part of the Blue Bulgaria Coalition, said: "It makes sense to have a united right wing and it is being born today." He also said the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) and Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) belong to Blue Bulgaria.

Moskov, who tops the list of candidates in Sofia's 24th constituency, addressed those gathered at the opening of Blue Bulgaria's election campaign in Sofia on Sunday. The coalition comprises nine parties.

UDF is in a coalition with GERB. DSB is part of the Democratic Bulgaria (DB) coalition, which is itself in a coalition with Continue the Change (CC).

"The informal coalition of CC-DB and GERB-UDF did not live up to expectations and opted for liberal governance, while the politicians' conduct in Parliament repelled voters," said Vili Lilkov, who tops the Blue Bulgaria list of candidates in Sofia's 23rd constituency. "We too are outraged, but we choose not to give up. Our top goal for the June 9 elections is to rally the scattered right-wing voters so that they can be represented in the National Assembly," he said.

Nikola Yankov, who tops the Blue Bulgaria list in Sofia's 25th constituency, said right-wing policies mean less state intervention in the economy, lower taxes, deficits and debts, and less corruption.

Boris Yachev, leader of the Conservative Bulgaria party, said the Blue Bulgaria coalition hopes it will send to the European Parliament young people who have the backbone to say "no" to encroachments on Bulgaria's national interests.

Tsveta Kirilova, the top MEP candidate of Blue Bulgaria, said it is time Bulgaria showed it is not a third-rate player in the EU. Europe must hear Bulgaria's well-reasoned voice, she said.
