Former gambling mogul and oligarch Vassil Bojkov presented his new political project National Movement "Centre" on Thursday in Sofia.
Bojkov said that for thirty-five years a "mafia" calling themselves "politicians" has been lying to Bulgarians. In his words, 2024 is fateful, the world is changing, there is no unipolar model. "Bulgaria needs strong people," he said.
The formation aims to "save Bulgaria and its people from destruction", its priorities state. The political movement wants to unite like-minded individuals, organisations and parties around it, and the goal is a civil society that "has the freedom to take charge of its destiny".
Improving people's living standards is one of the formation's national priorities, as is defending the national interest. The Centre stands for justice and equality, the rule of law, democracy, cultural identity, transparency, accountability, and the transfer of successful practices from other countries to Bulgaria, in keeping with the national interest.
These goals can be achieved with active civic participation, quality policy, expertise, innovation, education and awareness, the group said.
