site.btaOne in Two Bulgarians Expect War in Ukraine to Last throughout 2024

Almost half of all Bulgarians do not expect the war in Ukraine to end this year, according to the results of a Gallup International poll announced on Sunday. Asked whether they believe that the war will end in 2024, 30.7% of the respondents said yes, while 49.9% said no. The remaining 19.4% chose none of the above.

The data are from a poll conducted for the Bulgarian National Television between February 1 and 9, 2024, among 808 adults. The sample is representative of the country's population.

It appears that young people, aged between 18 and 25, find it harder to predict, as 29% of them chose none of the above. A similar trend became apparent among less educated respondents. 

Supporters of the ruling parties seem to be more optimistic, as 43% of the GERB-UDF electorate indicated that they believe that the war will end this year, while only 15.4% of the There Is Such a People electorate shared the same opinion.
