site.btaGovernment Approves Draft MoU on Joint Acquisition of Ground-Based Air Defence Systems under European Sky Shield Initiative
The Council of Ministers adopted a Decree approving a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the defence ministries of Bulgaria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway and Slovenia on the joint procurement of ground-based air defence systems within the framework of the European Sky Shield Initiative.
The approval of the Memorandum of Understanding will enable Bulgaria to participate in programmes for joint purchase, maintenance and use of ground-based air defence (GBAD) weapon systems. The ground-based air defence weapon systems will be integrated into NATO's air and missile defence system and will be part of the unified missile defence and air defence system in Europe.
