Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov convenes a meeting of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC) at 6 pm on Sunday over Hamas' attack on Israel, the Government Information Service reported on Sunday morning. A statement to the media will be given afterwards.
The NCTC was set up under the Counter-Terrorism Act to carry out analyses and assessment of the terrorist threat to certain sites and individuals at national, regional, and municipal level; it can propose to the Interior Minister the introduction of a certain threat level and readiness level. The NCTC is coordinated by the State Agency for National Security, whose officers along with those of the Interior Ministry, the State Intelligence Agency, the Military Intelligence Service, and the Defence Ministry's Military Police Service carry out the NCTC's activities.
