The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy issued a position, sent to BTA on Friday, refuting the allegations made earlier in Parliament by the Democracy Rights and Freedoms (DRF) that there have been purges in the Ministry's structures.
The Ministry said it strongly objects to the definition of a normal personnel process as politically motivated dismissals, repressions and purges, reads its position.
"Official data on the movement of personnel in the ministry's agencies has become the subject of media speculation, but now also of a declaration by a parliamentary group," the Ministry said.
Earlier in the day, the DRF Parliamentary Group said in a statement that there was a "purge" in the administration. "We continue to witness political dismissals, repression and pressure against employees and specialists who profess beliefs different from those of the man who rules and manages state institutions in Bulgaria," Hyusni Adem said in a statement on behalf of his party, apparently referring to MRF-New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski.
The Ministry explained that it had provided data in response to a parliamentary question that from April to December 2024, the structures of the ministry had seen more than 500 employees leave, which is also the number of new hires. "The staff movement is within the average for the state administration and is not unprecedented," the Ministry said.
