President Rumen Radev congratulated Joseph Aoun on occasion of his election as President of the Lebanese Republic, the press service of the Presidency said Friday.

In his congratulatory letter, Radev expressed confidence that thanks to Joseph Aoun's rich experience Lebanon will overcome the difficulties and the current difficult challenges facing the Lebanese people, as well as strengthen Lebanese statehood, sovereignty and unity. Radev noted that Lebanon is an example of religious and ethnic tolerance in the Middle East region.

"The Republic of Bulgaria and the Lebanese Republic have long-standing relations of friendship, which we highly value and wish to further develop and deepen," Radev said, adding that through joint efforts bilateral cooperation can be built upon in areas of mutual interest.
