site.btaStara Zagora to Host Third Debate on Maritsa East Complex’ Prospects

A third debate on the future of the Maritsa East energy complex will take place on August 28 at the local town hall. This was confirmed to BTA by the press office of the Staraz Zagora municplaity. The debate is organized by Mayor Zhivko Todorov. 

Invitations have been sent to local mayors, the Energy Ministry, representatives of the trade union, of the thermal power plants, Maritsa East mines, employer organizations, etc. 

The first two debates took place in July.  

The trade unions insist on keeping the complex a working segment of the economy within the context of EU’s Green Deal. 
 
Energy Minister Rumen Radev said that the Maritsa East complex combines coal mining, energy production and auxiliary activities, and employs a huge number of people.
