Regarding statements of President Rumen Radev, GERB political party said that democracy cannot be defended with hypocrisy, nor can statehood be protected with division and a constantly raised fist. GERB’s position was published on Facebook.

Earlier on Saturday, Radev told journalists that the Cabinet is using each of its own failures as an opportunity to grasp more power. The president described that as an offensive against the democratic balance set in the Constitution and the law.

The Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) coalition also published an official position, commenting on Radev's statements. "Once again, the President is concerned for preserving his influence in the [security] services and not concerned for the people’s real problems. Apparently, the President does not see the inability of the Interior Ministry Chief Secretary, appointed by him, to deal with the chronicles of crime of the past year. No, Mr President, the security of the citizens is more important than your ambitions for power and retaining full control of the security services", CC-DB's position reads.
