Romania’s Party for Nature, People and Animals (NOA) has announced that it will endorse incumbent Bucharest Mayor Nicusor Dan in the presidential elections in May, according to Agerpres.

"Our decision is a recognition of his constant and significant efforts in animal and environmental protection. As an activist and advocate for environmental initiatives, he has shown a strong commitment to our party's core values. Throughout his career, Nicusor Dan has promoted animal welfare and environmental protection," the party said.

NOA added that if elected President, "Nicusor Dan will be a strong voice for a more civilized Romania, one that is compassionate towards nature and animals".

A FlashData poll published last week showed that 15% of Bucharest residents would support a presidential bid by Nicusor Dan, while 38% would not.

On December 16, 2024, Dan announced his intention to run for president. Although the election campaign does not start until April 4, billboards featuring his image have already appeared at key intersections across the Romanian capital, bearing the slogan: "Nicusor for President. Honest Romania".
