site.btaUPDATED Video Review Puts Yankov at Third Place in Sunday's Parallel Giant Slalom
A video review has put Bulgaria's most successful snowboarder Radoslav Yankov third in the second parallel giant slalom at FIS Snowboard World Cup in Bansko on Sunday. It was reported initially that Yankov had placed fourth with only 0.05 seconds separating him from third place. That was later changed and the fourth place went to Austrian Alexander Payer.
Yankov, who recorded the best time in the qualifying round, started in the direct eliminations with a win over the other Bulgarian in the competition Tervel Zamfirov. In a very even battle Yankov managed to beat his younger rival in the final metres and thus take revenge for his defeat in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
In the top 8, Yankov scored a faultless victory over Elias Huber as the German made a mistake early on and did not finish the race.
In the semi-finals, Yankov had Switzerland's Dario Caviezel as his opponent, who subsequently won the final against Italian Gabriel Messner. The Bulgarian made an inaccuracy at the start, tried to make up for it in the final metres, but missed the penultimate gate on the course.
