Artificial intelligence and two million lights will be at the Christmas market in the Romanian city of Craiova this year. The event, eagerly awaited by many Bulgarians as well, will be on from November 15 to January 5. This year it will be inspired by the story of Beauty and the Beast and will be held in several locations in the city.
"Each square will have a different concept, like Star Wars or Santa's Village. The largest Ferris wheel in Romania will be located in William Shakespeare Square. Fratii Buzesti Square is reserved territory for the concerts and live shows," the organisers said.
There will also be an ice rink and a whole corner for photos with teddy bears.
Over 100 vendors from all over the country will offer authentic products and dishes. Visitors to the market will also be able to enjoy traditional Christmas dishes from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Hungary. There will also be stalls selling jewellery, pottery, wreaths, garlands, knitwear, icons and much more.
The market will be open Monday to Thursday from 1 pm to 9 pm and Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm local (and Bulgarian) time.
"The biggest surprise will be Santa Claus, who will fly his sleigh in the skies above the city," the organizers said.
In 2023, Craiova's Christmas market took second place in the ranking of the most beautiful Christmas fairs in Europe, according to the specialist website europeanbestdestinations.com for the best destinations on the continent.
