Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel welcomed the development of Bulgaria-Morocco relations and bilateral cooperation, especially in the fight against illegal migration and human trafficking, at a joint press conference with Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of Morocco Nasser Bourita, held in Rabat on Wednesday.
She noted that Bulgaria and Morocco have maintained friendly relations for a long time. We should fully develop the potential of our relations, Gabriel stressed, adding that she welcomes the reactivation of economic cooperation with Morocco, which she said has great potential.
Gabriel emphasized on the bilateral cooperation in the fight against illegal migration in the framework of the more global EU-Morocco cooperation, which has important regional and international significance. Bulgaria and Morocco are stability factors in their regions, she further said.
Prior to the press conference, the foreign ministers of Bulgaria and Morocco signed three bilateral documents: a joint political declaration, an agreement on film production and exchange, and a programme for cooperation in education, research, culture, communication, youth and sport for the period 2024-2026.
Gabriel welcomed the role of these documents in enabling Bulgaria and Morocco to fully develop the potential of their relations. In accordance with the film production and exchange agreement, each of the two countries will hold a Cinema Week devoted to the other country, she added.
The Bulgarian Foreign Minister’s visit continued with a meeting with the senior advisor of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Andre Azoulay.
