Zornitsa Rusinova Is New Labour Minister

Sofia, May 13 (BTA) - The current Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Zornitsa Rusinova, will become the new minister, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said in Parliament on Friday. Borissov said he would like there to be continuity because former minister Ivaylo Kalfin was doing a good job.

Kalfin vacated the post on Tuesday, after his ABV party declared it would withdraw its support for the Government.

Rusinova, who was responsible for the European programmes, is very well accepted by Brussels, Borissov said, adding that he believes she will do a good job "with our support, just like we helped Kalfin".

Consultations were held in Parliament on Friday morning between GERB, the Reformist Bloc and the Patriotic Front about a new Labour and Social Policy Minister and the presidential veto on the Election Code texts. The Prime Minister has informed the Government partners about Rusinova's nomination on Friday and, in his words, everyone was in favour. He is now waiting for the opinion of the trade unions and employers.

GERB and its partners also held consultations on Thursday to discuss the possible nomination of Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, who was pointed out by the media as the likely new minister.  Information surfaced later on in the media, according to which Donchev had refused the nomination. "Tomislav Donchev is one of GERB's soldiers. There is no chance for him to disagree with something the party, or I, representing the Government, tell him," the Prime Minister said, dismissing the allegations that Donchev had refused to head the Labour Ministry. The Prime Minister explained that Donchev is already responsible for EU funds and the energy sector, but nevertheless will help the Labour and Social Policy Ministry with the EU programmes.
